The City of Binghamton is apparently getting another new Mexican restaurant soon.

A sign in the parking lot of the former Grande Pizzeria and Restaurante on Vestal Avenue on the South Side proclaims the opening of the Hacienda Restaurant “coming soon.”

The site of a second location of the iconic Grande Pizza in the Northgate Plaza in Broome County has been located near Binghamton General Hospital for several years.  It had replaced a larger location for the Marnielli’s Restaurant that opened in the late 1980s on State Street in Downtown Binghamton before moving to the South side.

Construction activity is visible inside the building and its believed the new eatery could swing its doors open in a matter of a few weeks.

Over the past several months, work has been underway at the former Family Dollar store at the corner of Court and State Streets, converting that space into a new Mexican restaurant as well.  There is no word on an opening date for Dos Rios Cantina.
