Graybark Solar is seeking approval to construct what’s described as a “community solar project” on land just south of Route 434.

The Tioga Terrace site is a short distance from the town of Vestal. The property is between Tioga Boulevard and Owego Road.

John Reagan of Graybark Solar said the company is a subsidiary of California-based Cypress Creek Renewables.

Speaking on WNBF Radio’s Binghamton Now program, Reagan said the two-megawatt solar energy project would be expected to operate for at least 25 to 30 years.

Reagan provided a project overview at a meeting of the Owego town Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday night.

Some people whose homes are west of the site of the proposed solar farm have expressed concerns about the project. Some are worried the facility could adversely affect property values.
