I can honestly say that I rarely ever call in sick, maybe a few times over the past 20 years, and I was really sick when I did make that call.

The average person gets sick roughly 2 to 4 times a year, but most of those times they can still function well enough to get through the workday.

Many businesses have taken sick days,vacation days, etc and combines them to a hybrid we now call 'Personal Time Off'' or PTO.

That usually means if you call in sick it goes towards one of your allotted days, which could be used for a vacation day.

Well who wants to use a vacation day when you're sick? Most people just suck it up and come in to avoid losing a vacation day.

Most employers are understanding if you're not feeling well and they appreciate the fact you came in anyway, so many times you can slide out a little early and not get docked for it.
