Delaware County Sheriff’s officials are investigating a serious all-terrain vehicle crash in the Town of Hamden that sent two people to the hospital.

Officials say 30 year old Michael Armstrong of Roxbury was driving on Buzzy Lane at 8:50 p.m. May 12 when he lost control of the ATV on a curve and hit a tree.  He suffered a serious head injury while his passenger, 28 year old Laura Armstrong was ejected and suffered minor injuries.

Deputies say another ATV traveling behind Armstrong driven by 27 year old Corey Hochbrueckner of Oneonta hit Armstrong’s vehicle after the first ATV hit the tree.  Neither Hochbrueckner nor his passenger, 33 year old Ashley Joslin of Hamden were hurt.

Authorities say their investigation is continuing but it’s believed alcohol was a contributing factor.

Armstrong was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.  He was last listed in critical condition at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Investigators say they expect charges will be filed at the conclusion of the investigation.
