Senator Fred Akshar Seeks Ride-Sharing Input

New York State Senator Fred Akshar is taking input on the ride-sharing issue.

The Republican has launched an online survey to gather information from constituents about whether they are looking to have New York expand services like Uber and Lyft into areas outside of New York City.

Comments can be submitted at akshar.nysenate.gov.

There had been talk that the expansion of ride sharing outside of New York City would be limited to areas like Rochester and Buffalo, but there is word now that Uber wants to serve all areas in the state, including the Southern Tier.

Many taxi companies have objected to an expansion, saying it would hurt their business.
