Remember when we were told TV would rot our brains? I am here to debunk that notion. I am a Big Bang Theory addict. I admit it! The show has made nerds "it" men and taught many of us more about science than we learned in school.

I can now be more confident when I take intelligence tests, thanks to.....a TV show! Here are some of the intelligent things I learned:

1. Fig Newtons are named after a town in Massachusetts and not after the scientist.

2. There is a Physics field that theorizes matter exists as strings (String Theory).

3. The Higgs-Boson particle is believed to give mass to matter. The press calls it the God Particle.

4. The Schrodinger's Cat theory. In this paradox, a cat is in a box with a vial of poison. With the box closed, a person can say both that the cat is alive and that it is dead.  This is handy to help figure out relationship problems!

5. The Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland is the world's largest and most powerful particle collider and a "mecca" for scientists. Valentine's Day is a good time to visit.

6. If you mix cornstarch and water, then put it on plastic wrap on a speaker, it becomes "solid" and dances when the music is cranked up.

7. Pajamas were invented in India.

8. Physics isn't a high paying field.

9. Curry is a natural laxative

10. A Theramin is the instrument used to create the sound of the original Star Trek theme. You do not touch it, but run your hands around the space above it.

Oh, this list of things learned is just the tip of the iceberg! If you like science, comics, superheroes, nerds, or laughing you can learn a lot from the "BBT."

I am proud to be a nerd now!
