The Broome County Legislature is scheduled to vote on a contract between the District Attorney and school districts to allow for adding School Resource Officers.

The legislation also calls for the creation of a District Attorney School Officer Program Grant and budget.

September 23, District Attorney Steven Cornwell announced the Support for Students Programs under which a contract with the DA’s office would allow local district to choose retired police officers hired by the District Attorney to work as SROs with the ability to make arrests.

The districts would cover the pay for the part time positions.
