Sammy Hagar will be the subject of Dan Rather's AXS TV's The Big Interview. On the program, Hagar debuted a new song called "The Inner Child," which can be viewed above. The episode will air this Tuesday (Feb. 23) at 8PM Eastern.

Calling it a "little lullaby," Hagar introduces the song, which he performs with a 12-string acoustic guitar, by saying that it was written after he and his family went through therapy sessions together. He called it "one of the most wonderful things I've ever done because I got to hear how my kids really think about their Mom and Dad."

After the performance, Hagar said of it, "It's really hard for me to sing that song
, because it's very deep. It's about me. It's about my kids, about my grandkids, about my mom and dad [...] I've found out that all my problems are being caused in life by my inner child. That little guy that was hurt as a child, and felt those things. Even though I've accomplished everything and more than I could have ever dreamed, that little guy is still stirrin' around in there, you know what I mean? It's like, you know, you think you're above it until someone pushes that little trigger."

But the show isn't always as serious as Hagar's song. A clip of Hagar taking the legendary 84-year old newsman out for a spin in his LaFerrari through the streets of his town -- presumably while driving under 55 for at least part of it -- can be seen here.

The fifth installment of Hagar's Rock & Roll Road Trip, which airs -- also on AXS -- Sunday night at 9PM Eastern, features Nancy Wilson of Heart and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains. In the trailer, Wilson talks about how the emergence of bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains meant that "the whole '80s thing was completely kaput."
