Rockers React: ‘Star Wars’ Actress Carrie Fisher Dead at 60
2016 has just been brutal! The entertainment world has suffered another great loss with the death of Carrie Fisher, who has died at the age of 60. Fisher suffered a major heart attack just last Friday while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. She had been reported to be in stable condition over the weekend, but family spokesperson Simon Halls confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that the actress passed away this morning (Dec. 27).
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” read the statement.
Fisher was best known as Princess Leia in the first three Star Wars films. She reprised her role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year, and there was a nod to the actress in the most recent Rogue One film. Fisher was expected to appear in Star Wars: Episode VIII which is scheduled for December 2017.
The actress grew up in the Hollywood spotlight as the daughter of actors Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. In addition to Star Wars, her credits included Shampoo, When Harry Met Sally, Soapdish and Hannah and Her Sisters. She also wrote the successful books Postcards From the Edge and Wishful Drinking.
Fisher’s death has caused an outpouring of condolences from those in the entertainment industry, including such rockers as Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante, Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine, Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor, All That Remains‘ Phil Labonte and more. We’ll continue to update this post as more messages come in.

Just had to pull over on the side of the highway, to shed a tear for #CarrieFisher. Still one of the hottest women I'd ever seen in my early teens and to this day, as well as being a talented actress and writer. Whether she was Princess Leia, Rosemary on 30Rock or the jilted lover shooting a bazooka at Jake Blues, she was always brilliant. Thank u for everything Ms Fisher. And eff u 2016….
