The thought of humans being replaced by robots always seemed kind of humorous to me, but technology has eliminated many people in the workforce over the past few decades.

The recent push to get minimum wage up to $15 an hour had increased the urgency for machines that can do the job faster, cheaper and more efficient.

One of the big areas demanding newer technology if the fast food industry and it looks like there are getting some help from a company called Momentum Machines.

MM has come up with a burger machine that can quote "slice toppings like tomatoes and pickles immediately before it places the slice onto your burger, giving you the freshest burger possible." The robot is "more consistent, more sanitary, and can produce ~360 hamburgers per hour." That's one burger every 10 seconds.

The president of the company says this machine is not meant to help employees do their job more efficiently, it is meant to steal their job.

The new Burger Bot takes up about 24 square feet which is considerably smaller than many assembly lines.

In fact the technology will begin this year a McDonalds store is set to open July 4th in Phoenix, Arizona once the state-of-the-art robot remodel is complete. The restaurant will still employ a small team of human employees to insure all of the robots are working correctly, the food and cleaning supplies remain stocked along with removing the money collected by the robots.

Visitors to the restaurant will see these new robots working in harmony at a speed of 50 times faster than the average McDonald’s employee,

We all know that robots lack the human factors which includes passion, unpredictability and improvisation, but they never call in sick or take smoke breaks.
