Robinson Sentenced to 15 Years for JC Easter Sunday Killing

A Georgia man who admitted to fatally shooting a woman on Easter morning in Johnson City is heading to prison.

Monday morning in Broome County Court, 29-year-old Corey Robinson was sentenced to 15 years.

Robinson originally had been charged with second-degree murder in the April 1 killing of Erika Smith of Binghamton.

Smith was one of three people shot at a home on Crocker Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday. The two others who were wounded in the attack survived.

Authorities had said Robinson had been involved in a dispute during a party at the residence. He left the party but returned and fired at the house. Police had said Smith was not the intended target.

In July, Robinson pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors. He had been facing life in prison if he had been convicted of murder in the case.
