Rob Halford Shrugs Off Bruce Dickinson’s Teleprompter Criticism: ‘I Love Bruce’

Much as the music press loves a good fight between rock legends, sometimes our favorite musicians are simply too good-natured to cooperate. Take, for example, Judas Priest singer Rob Halford‘s response to recent remarks made by Iron Maiden‘s Bruce Dickinson.

As we previously reported, Dickinson went on something of a tirade against rock singers who use Teleprompters, snickering, “What the f— is that all about? People pay good money and you can’t even remember the sodding words. The daftest one I ever saw was [Judas Priest's] ‘Breaking the Law.’ It’s on the f—ing Autocue. ‘Breaking the law, breaking the law / Breaking the law, breaking the law / Breaking the law, breaking the law / Breaking the law‘ – guess what? – ‘breaking the law.’ It’s ludicrous.”

Of course, Halford was asked about it during a recent interview, and to his immense credit, he laughed out loud when the subject came up, essentially saying people were making a big deal out of nothing.

“I love Bruce. I love Bruce. He’s a great friend of mine. And he’s very outspoken,” continued Halford, who called Dickinson a “great frontman, a great singer from a great band.” As he went on to point out, “You know, these things are said in many ways, and I’m sure he didn’t mean it in any other way than Bruce sometimes goes off in one of his rants. You know, it’s just the way it goes.”
