This Sunday will be the D.W. Smith 5k Remembrance Walk/Run through Johnson City. Officer David Wayne Smith J.R. of the Johnson City Police Department, was shot and killed in the line of duty on March 31st. Back in 2014.

The Run/Walk in his honor will start at 9 a.m. In front of the J.C. Police station. It will affect the traffic on major streets like Main St. Between Baldwin and Jenison Ave, and parts of Harry L. Drive too. The Johnson City Police Department said that Main St. Should reopen by 9:15. Harry L. Drive will be reduced to one-way westbound traffic only, between Academy St. And Toys R. Us. No eastbound traffic will be allowed.

The run will also close some side streets like North Arch, North Broad, North Hudson, Lester Ave, Pratt Ave and Helen Drive.

There will be detours in place. For the Harry L. Drive Detour, use Rt. 17 between Exits 70 and 71 RT. 201 and Airport Rd.) or Fairview St. Between Reynolds Rd and Academy St. The detour for Main St will use Corliss Ave. Between Jenison Ave and Baldwin St.

Wilson Hospital will be accessible from the south via Floral Ave to Baldwin St. Or from the west via Main ST. To Baldwin.

The 5 K race should be over by 10 am.
