If you don't have a map or atlas in your car, you should. relying on a GPS is a bad idea.

There are times when GPS does not work; like in Manhattan where skyscrapers block signals, in bad weather, or when there is a great deal of sun spot activity.

If you are in unfamiliar territory and your GPS goes out, what would you do? I would grab my map and find my way home.

I always carry a map. Of course, it should be up to date, so you'll have to replace older ones. I like to carry an atlas of the US too, because if I decide to go to another state, I am covered.

Do you know how to read a map? Here's a great tutorial using an atlas.
