Residents Want Highway Garage Gate Closed

Some Town of Chenango residents are objecting to the reopening of an entry to the Broome County Highway Garage on Highland Road.

Residents say vehicles using the gate instead of the previous entrance of Fallon Road are causing a travel hazard.

Legislative Chairman Daniel Reynolds has asked the County Executive to close the gate to all but emergency vehicles and deploy a speed monitoring device.

Reynolds said it had been 47 days since his initial letter to Executive Jason Garnar without a response.

County officials have said they are monitoring the situation.
