I got the news on Wednesday morning that one of the area gifted musicians Billy Davis had passed away after battling a brain tumor for 2 years. Billy was a founding member of the band ACTS, that rocked the hell out of this area in the 80' and 90's.

Billy Davis brought a lot of joy into the lives of many people through his music, I met him a few times when he played with ACTS, and ran into him at local music stores back in the day. I always enjoyed hearing him sing, what a great voice.

Billy developed a rare musical disorder called amusia a few years ago, that removed his ability to process the pitch of a song, and wouldn't allow him to remember music or recognize songs, I can't imagine having something you love so much being taken from you.

Billy said in an article "I guess I'm just thankful that I'm not losing my mind over it. And I'm not. I'm just thankful for the years I've got,"

Billy Davis took his amazing talent beyond our community, touring with the band 'Foghat', and working and touring with the legendary band 'Badfinger'

He moved to Nashville many years ago to be closer to the music business.

Last month, hundreds of local area musicians, family and friends attended a tribute to Billy Davis at the Choconut Inn in Friendsville, PA.

I had a chance to speak with some of his close friends and musical family, after hearing the stories, it's easy to understand how special this man was, and will always be remembered.

The entire Whale staff sends out heartfelt condolences to Billy's Family, Friends and Fans.

Heaven has gained another unique and precious gem.  .
