Recent Illnesses in the Twin Tiers Discussed on Southern Tier Close Up

Is it a cold or the flu?  What do you do to feel better? What do you do to keep from getting sick?

Broome County Health Department Communicable Disease Nurse, Mari Yourdon speaks on the February 7 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up about a host of diseases that have been going around the region.

Yourdon says, in addition to colds and flu, many have complained about the "stomach bug", which she says is a Norovirus, similar to what has been widely publicized as showing up on cruise ships.

Yourdon also talks about the effectiveness of the flu vaccine, over-the-counter treatments and home remedies.
