I'm a Philadelphia Flyers fan so my season ended months ago. I still love playoff hockey and will watch every game I can in this years playoffs. And so far, there have been some awesome games and a lot of overtime thrillers in round one. In fact, this years round one set a record for the most overtime contests in any round of the NHL Playoffs.

Tonight round two starts for the teams from the East. The New York Rangers will face off against the Ottawa Senators. Binghamton has a lot of fans for both teams being that they both had their A.H.L. teams here. The Binghamton Rangers called the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Arena (Now the Floyd L. Maines Veteran's Memorial Arena) home from 1990 through 1997. The B-Sens had a 15 year run here that just ended this year, with the team moving to Belleville.

I have friends that are torn on who to root for in this series. Some have been Ranger fans all their lives but with having watched most of Ottawa's team play here in Binghamton, they feel they should root for their "Hometown Boys".

Then I have other friends that like hockey that don't like either team because as they put it, "they both abandoned us, so screw them".

I wont have any problem with the Rangers winning if they do because some of my best friends are Rangers fans and I would be happy for them. But, I have to root for Ottawa in this one. Yes, they pulled out of Binghamton, but that's not the players decision, so I won't hold that against them. Besides, I still root for all the former Binghamton Senators regardless of what team they end up on.

If Ottawa does win the Stanley Cup this year, the only bad part would be that their farm club wont be here so the cup probably won't make a visit to the Floyd!
