After tying the series one game a piece, the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated the rest of the series eliminating the Rangers on Saturday with a 6 to 3 victory.

The Penguins out scored the Rangers 21 to 10 in five games to advance to play the Washington Capitals in the second round.

The Rangers were a much different team than they were in 2014 when they were on their way to the Stanley Cup finals, the team fought hard that year and fell one game short of a championship.

This will be an interesting off season for the Blue Shirts, who have some big contracts for players that didn't perform as well as their salaries would indicate, and so Rangers fans will wait till next season.

If you're a true New York sports fan we still have an NHL team in the running for the cup, the New York Islanders defeated the Florida Panthers in six games to advance to the second round where they'll face the Tamp Bay Lightning.

The Islanders haven't seen the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 1993, so this is a special season for the team and its fans.

I have to admit I don't know too much about the Islanders, but I am pulling for them in this series.

Islanders John Tavares put game six into overtime with a goal with less than a minute left and then scored the winning goal in double overtime to finish the series with Florida.

The New York Islanders have new life and a new series.

Games one and two will be in Tampa Bay later this week.  Tampa Bay defeated the Islanders in the first round of the 2004 playoffs and went on to win it all, Can lightning strike twice?

I like New York as the underdogs in this series.

Go Islanders!
