New York's two elite hockey teams, and arch rivals, battled it out again last night in a fight for 1st place in the Metropolitan Division.

The Rangers ended up winning, 2-1!

It was the last game that the two teams will play at Nassau Coliseum, as the Islanders will be moving to Brooklyn next year. The game came down to one deflected goal to break a tie with just under 3 minutes left.

The win brings the Rangers one point shy of the first place Islanders.

Many Ranger fans were skeptical when goalie Henrik Lundqvist went down with a neck injury at the end of January. Cam Talbot has proven that he is a worthy replacement in front of the net though. Talbot's play will certainly make things interesting when Lundqvist is ready to return.

The Islanders are doing just enough to win, and keep a top the Metro division, the play of  center John Tavares has a lot to do with that.

With less than 20 games left for each team, this rivalry will most likely come down to a matter of a few points.

Islanders host Ottawa on Friday, while the blue shirts travel to Washington to take on the Capitals.

Rangers? Islanders? New York hockey fans, get ready for an exciting finish!
