More vacant buildings in the area of the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy in Johnson City are expected to be torn down in a few days.

Three structures along Corliss Avenue will be demolished to provide additional parking.

Former apartment buildings at 85 and 99 Corliss Avenue will be removed. A mixed-use building at the corner of Corliss Avenue and Broad Street also will be torn down. That property had been used by The Pharmacy store for nearly three decades.

Crews from New York State Electric and Gas were seen doing utility work in the area Monday.

The demolition project originally was expected to start this week but it was rescheduled because of the recent cold snap. The work now is set to begin next Monday, weather permitting.

The $60 million pharmacy school building opened last August. A former Endicott Johnson factory on Corliss Avenue is to be renovated for use by the university's nursing school.

A $15 million research and development facility is to be constructed between the pharmacy and nursing school buildings.
