The Associated Press reports that residents in the areas of New York hit hardest by a powerful nor'easter could be without power into the early part of next week.

The storm brought flooding to the coastal areas and heavy winds that brought down trees and left thousands without electricity.

Governor Andrew Cuomo deployed an additional 100 members of the New York National Guard to assist recovery efforts as he declared a state of emergency in Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan and Westchester counties.

The governor said 182,000 New Yorkers were without power Sunday afternoon, most of them downstate

New York State Electric and Gas reported at 3:30 a.m. March 5 a few dozen customers in the Southern Tier still without power.

Electric service to parts of Delaware County was projected to be restored at 11:45 p.m. and in Tioga County, the early morning assessment had power back on at 11:30 p.m.

Claverack Electric in Pennsylvania reported no power outages in its service area in Susquehanna, Bradford and Lackawanna Counties but the Wayne Highlands School District to the east closed school due to power issues.
