Over the Memorial Day Weekend, I was camping in an area of Northeast Pennsylvania that is not social media and in many area not phone friendly. That means reception is minimal at best. And because of that, I consider it a great place to be.

Heading into this weekend, I feared the citizens of this great Country would not remember that this isn't just a 3 day weekend off, but that it stands for something much more. Upon arriving at the campground on Friday, I was greeted with an awesome display of patriotism and memorial everywhere in the form of the American flag being proudly displayed at many campsites, alongside other flags honoring the many branches of our military. There are many military veterans of war and peacetime where I camp, and it's such an honor to hang out with them around a campfire. They don't mention their time serving our country, and they don't have to. We all know what they have done to ensure we get to enjoy our freedom in the USA, and we let them know how proud we are of their service to our country.

The other thing that made me feel so proud to be an American, was when I returned home after the 3 day holiday, and took some time to catch up on social media platforms. It was awe inspiring to read post after post from so many people putting up remembrances, thanks to our fallen military, pictures of their loved ones who have served, and displaying how proud they are of those who fought to keep our country free.

We worry that people have lost sight of what Memorial Day is about, or the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, or any patriotic holiday, but from my perspective, it's just as strong as ever. That's Patriotism in it's best form, thanks to the citizens of the USA, and that's why our Country continues to be the best in the World.
