Ready to hop aboard the Whale Classic Rock Time Machine? Let's travel back to 1970.

September 1970 is the month we're heading to specifically, not just because it's much warmer than the month of January, but because Black Sabbath is about to release one amazing album.

The album is 'Paranoid' which was their 2nd studio album. It was to be named 'War Pigs' but the record label convinced the band to change to 'Paranoid' because the title track had the potential to become a hit record. That song did get to the number 4 position on the UK singles chart, and peaked at number 61 on the US singles chart.

'Paranoid' contains some great tunes including War Pigs, Iron Man and of course the title track. Iron Man was released as a single only in the United States, and it didn't become a singles charted hit like a few other great rock songs that should have (Stairway to Heaven comes to mind. But never the less, it became one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

For this week's Classic Rock Throwback Thursday, let's check in on the British TV show 'Top of the Pops' back in 1970 as Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath rock out to the album title track - Paranoid.
