One Dead in Head-On Crash in Chenango County

New York State Police are investigating a deadly head-on crash in Chenango County.

Authorities were called to County Road 25 in the Town of Columbus at 1:34 a.m. December 15.

Troopers say a 27-year-old man from Sherburne was driving west when she crossed into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons, colliding with a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Schuyler Lake woman.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  A 26-year-old Edmeston, New York woman in his car was taken to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown for treatment of minor injuries.  The driver of the second car was airlifted to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse with severe injuries.  State Police say she is expected to survive.

The crash closed the road for about five-and-a-half hours.

The names of those involved have not been released.
