Authorities say 59-year-old Mark Maslar died at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

According to New York State Police, Maslar was one of two people extricated by firefighters from a house on Kemak Road in the Town of Triangle.

Maslar sustained severe burns over most of his body. He initially was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City before he was transferred to the Syracuse hospital.

Investigators say the fire was reported around 5:20 p.m. Saturday. The other person who was removed from the burning structure - whose name was not released - was not hurt.

Police say the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.

Several fire departments from Broome, Cortland and Chenango counties battled the blaze.
