Vestal Police report a woman is being treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries following a physical domestic dispute incident on Sheedy Road in which her son apparently shot himself.

Patrol officers assisted by the Broome County Sheriff's Office were able to remove a woman from the home shortly before 10 a.m. November 22 following a 911 call stating the woman's son had a gun and she heard a gunshot in the house.

The Metro SWAT Team and negotiators were unable to contact the son and deployed gas into the house after several hours.

The body of 41 year old Charles Tinio was found in the house when officers made entry.

Authorities say Tinio died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Vestal Police were assisted by the Broome Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, Metro SWAT Team, Vestal Emergency Services and the Vestal Highway Department.
