A vacant gas station and car wash on Binghamton’s North side is coming down.

City officials say the site on Chenango that has been an eyesore and an environmental issue for years is finally being demolished.

Neighbors have long complained about the old gas station and City officials say they have been held back on taking action on the property by what City Hall called “several bureaucratic and environmental challenges.”

Mayor Richard David announced last October that the City would acquire and demolish the property.
