It was an exciting finish to the start of a new college football playoff system as the Ohio State Buckeyes easily defeated the Oregon Ducks, 42-20.

The Buckeyes started the 2014-15 season with a loss, but bounced back with 13 straight victories to become the first ever winner of the College Football Playoffs.

In the past, the best college teams would get an invite to participate in a bowl game at the end of the regular season, but this year a bracket and new system was put into place in which the top 4 teams in the nation would compete in a playoff competition.

This year Alabama (the top team) played the 4th seed Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl, while the number 2 seed Oregon played Florida State in the Rose Bowl.

Ohio State was the winner of the Sugar Bowl and Oregon prevailed in the Rose Bowl.

This is the Buckeyes 5th national championship but it means a lot more being able to compete in a playoff situation and go to a college (Super Bowl-like) championship.

I like the new system, some fans and teams are not happy with it, but I'm sure there are a few adjustments to work out.

Time to close the lid on the 2014-15 college football season. Up next is the NFL draft!
