The owner of two popular Broome County dining spots is preparing to sell the businesses.

The Number 5 restaurant on South Washington Street in Binghamton and Lampy’s restaurant on West Main Street in Endicott are on the market.

The businesses are owned by Jim McCoy. He bought a former city fire station on South Washington Street in 1978 and turned it into the Number 5 restaurant.

McCoy opened Lampy’s in 2004 in a building in Endicott’s Union District that had been home to Orlando’s restaurant for decades.

A listing with Pyramid Brokerage Company indicates the Number 5 building is for sale, along with all of the restaurant’s contents and equipment. A catering building and a Mary Street house which is being used for the restaurant’s offices are part of the package.

The brochure for the Lampy’s property advises that the current owner will train the new buyer.

Pyramid Brokerage salesman Scott Warren said the Number 5 and Lampy’s properties were listed with the company recently.

McCoy could not be reached on Friday to discuss the future of the restaurants or his plans.
