It's hard to believe that we are rolling into March already. The annual Binghamton St. Patrick's Day parade is always held two weeks before St Patrick's Day, which means next Saturday, March 3rd, is the big day.

On Parade Day, Downtown Binghamton will be packed with thousands of people wearing green and a lot of them, if not most of them, will be drinking green beer. It is definitely the biggest parade in our area year in and year out. The parade starts at NYSEG Stadium and rolls out on Court Street and finishes up down the far end of Main Street. State Street is always closed off with the bars serving thousands of people in that one block alone. Some of the highlights from the parade are the floats, the bagpipers, the Mummers from Philadelphia, and the Whale van. Ok, maybe the Whale van is not one of the highlights, but there are plenty of firetrucks to look at as well. They always put the firetrucks behind the Whale Van in the parade, in case it catches fire.

If you are planning on heading downtown for the parade, and you plan on enjoying some adult beverages, please make sure you either have a designated driver, you call a cab or take an Uber. And if you go, be on the lookout for the Whale van rolling through the parade next Saturday.
