The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is continuing to take comments from anglers about proposed changes to freshwater fishing regulations.

The DEC is looking to revise fish management plans based on fish populations and comments from anglers.

The final regulations are to take effect April 1 of 2017.

The proposed changes look to simplify regulations and modify size and catch limits for species like the Northern Pike in the Saint Lawrence River and its tributaries.

The proposed regulations are posted on the DEC website.
