Appearing on the August 22 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up, New York State Fair spokesman, Dave Bullard details the many changes coming to the 2015 State Fair, August 27-September 7 at the fairgrounds near Syracuse.

Bullard says the state committed millions of dollars to bring the fair up to the 21st century without losing some historic elements, including the century-old buildings on the grounds.

The theme of the 169th New York State Fair is Summer's Best in Show.

Some of the changes include new vegetarian and vegan vendors, the elimination of the grand stand with bigger shows being brought in to the new amphitheater built next to the fairgrounds and lake by Onondaga County, development of new equestrian facilities and new rides on the midway.

Advance tickets are $6 with admission $10 at the gate.

Information can be found and tickets purchased online at www.nysfair.org.

Southern Tier Close Up can be heard Sundays at 6am on 99.1 The Whale.
