Renovation work on the ground floor of the First National Bank Building at Court and Chenango streets is underway.

When completed, the project will result in about 5,000 square feet in available space for what's being touted as "Retail on the Roundabout."

Maureen Wilson, president of Pyramid Brokerage Company in Binghamton, said five potential tenants have expressed an interest in the site. They are considering using space in the building for retail, professional or medical office and gallery purposes.

Wilson said one retail store operator appears prepared to sign a lease to relocate from another Binghamton site to the former bank building because of its greater visibility.

The renovation work at the building is expected to be completed this summer.

Broome County records show the property was acquired by 95 Court Street LLC early last year for $775,000.
