The Broome County Clerk’s office is announcing the installation of drop boxes to make it easier for residents to have their Department of Motor Vehicle renewals processed.

The boxes are inside the Broome West Senior Center in Endwell, Eastern Broome Senior Center in Harpursville and Northern Broome Senior Center in Whitney Point.

Broome County Clerk Joseph Mihalko says the location of the boxes in the county will not only make it more convenient for residents to renew their driver licenses and registrations, but will make sure the County keeps 12.7% of the transaction fees to fund local projects.

When residents renew through the mail or online about $500,000 in revenue does not make it to Broome County.

Mihalko says currently 40 percent of transactions are handled in local DMV offices with 60 percent processed in Albany.  He says the County has been trying several ways to make it easier for residents to use the local offices including Saturday hours at the DMV office in Endicott and weekly satellite offices in Conklin, Harpursville, Whitney Point and Windsor.
