With Black Keys and Foo Fighters on the bill, there was definitely star power at Saturday's (Sept. 29) Global Festival in New York, but there was no mistaking that Neil Young and Crazy Horse were the headliners of the night. There was definitely a lot of respect shown for Young, as all of the acts from the day's event anxiously joined the singer for the all-star finale.

The singer played the riff-heavy 'Rockin' in the Free World' to end his set, flanked by wide-eyed rockers Dave Grohl and Dan Auerbach on guitars. Both musicians had that kid-in-a-candy-store look as they performed the song with Young and Crazy Horse to finish out the evening. You could also spot members of Band of Horses and K'Naan, who played earlier in the day, lining up for backing vocal assistance on the track with almost everyone beaming at having the opportunity to share the stage with Young.

While the song did provide a blistering end to the performance, Young and Crazy Horse were no less brilliant during the six songs that preceded the closer. The singer worked in three new tracks - 'Born in Ontario,' the whistle-heavy single 'Walk Like a Giant,' and 'Twisted Road' - all from the upcoming 'Psychedelic Pill' album. 'Walk Like a Giant' in particular found the band at their rocking best and featured a noise-rock ending that mimicked a machine that was winding down with each stop and start. The performance showed there was still some bite left in the band after the more folky 'Americana' disc that arrived earlier this year.

Young also dipped into his 'Ragged Glory' album for the show opener 'Love and Only Love,' and 'F---in' Up,' while stellar renditions of 'Powderfinger' and 'The Needle and the Damage Done' filled out the set.

Though the Global Festival is one of the highlights of Young's year, there's still plenty of road to go as the singer has North American dates booked into December.
