Well, how convenient. The weekend is here, I will be spending my weekend at the campground, hanging out with good friends around a roaring fire with a cooler full of beer.

According to National Day Calendar, today is National Drink Beer Day. I'm sure it won't take much effort to convince those of us who enjoy a good beer to partake. NDC was not successful in identifying the origination or reason for National Drink Beer Day, but really, does it matter?

It's interesting how much difference there is in the choice of beer. At camp, a some of my friends choose knockoffs of national brands that taste pretty much the same. I assume to save money. Makes sense. Why buy a beer just for the name if you can find another that's just as good?

Another thing I observed, many of my camp friends partake in beer drinking only on the weekend. Beer is off limits during the weekday. Good rule in my opinion. I do the same. The refrigerator in my camper has beer, but at home, I have none. No desire to drink at home.

Speaking of beer, this would be a good time to remind you that our Parlor City Oktoberfest is close. October 13th (a Saturday) to be exact. It will be back at the Mountain Top Grove on Hance Road in the town of Binghamton from 12 Noon to 6pm.

Parlor City Oktoberfest is family friendly. Advance tickets are just 10 dollars and kids 12 and under are free admission. Beer, German and specialty foods, live music, vendors selling cool stuff, and of course we will be there. After all, it's our event!
