5 races, 5 different winners and no controversy. Now this is the NASCAR season I've waited for!

I was a pit reporter "back in the day" and used to love racing. It got boring in the mid-2000's when the same 5 guys would win week after week. Ho-hum!

I started watching again 3 years ago thanks to my husband and was still bored. Not this year. When a season starts out with 5 different winners in that many races, it is anyone's championship. That's the way it should be.

Sunday's race in Fontana, California was fun to watch and a big surprise at the end. No one would have put Kyle Larson's name in the mix, yet there he was finishing second to Kyle Busch.

I have my favorite drivers, for sure, but it's nice to see true competition in racing again. The last time I saw that was 2005. After that, the cars changed and the same people won week after week. Then came the penalties. For a while there, and hopefully last year is the last for it, NASCAR was handing out penalties all over the place. Not a help.

With 5 races in so far, I look forward to the rest of the season. Here's hoping you do too.
