This past Saturday I attended my first ever Baby Shower so I just had to share this from a male point of view.

Well first I need to tell you that the shower was for my wife’s daughter (my step daughter) I was there to provide the musical entertainment and to Emcee.

The first thought that went through my mind was “why do they need me there”  I mean isn’t a baby shower just a bunch of women sitting around watching the future mom opening her gifts and going “awe that’s cute” and stuff like that?

The event starting with a diaper raffled in which guest brought a box or package of diapers in return for a raffle ticket, later the names were drawn from the tickets for 1st 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, which were gift baskets made up by my wife.

They had a game where there were 7 diapers with different types of chocolate on each diaper, they passed the diapers around and guests had to smell the diapers and guess which type of chocolate each was…they ranged from snickers to M&M’s, payday etc, guests that got the most right won prizes .

They also had a game in which they listed an animal species on the right column of a piece of paper and in the left column was a blank line… guest had to guess what the baby of that species was called. Deer…..Fawn.

I even did an audio game where I put together 6 different cartoon baby audio clips (Pebbles Flintstone, Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs “Not The Mama”, Stewie from Family Guy etc) I gave away Baby Ruth’s as prizes.

They had a memory game where someone went around with a platter full of items on it and once everyone saw it we gave them a blank sheet of paper and had them try and list as many of the items as they could remember.

I provided the music too and of course it was all songs with Baby in it (you’d be surprised how many there are)

Then at the end it was a bunch of women sitting around watching the future mom opening her gifts and going “awww that’s cute” and stuff like that. (that's when I packed up)

Since this was my first Baby Shower event, I’m not sure if this is typical of what goes on, but If this helps someone prepare for an event like this, then this blog was worth it.

All said, it was a much better experience then I envisioned
