Authorities have canceled an AMBER Alert after a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing was located in New York City.

According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Joanna Coates was being treated at a Manhattan hospital. The newspaper reported 41-year-old Robert Gonzalez was taken into custody by police.

An AMBER Alert had been issued for the Rochester girl late Monday night. The alert was lifted shortly after noon Tuesday.

The newspaper report said Linda Hollaert, the girl's mother, had been advised by investigators that her daughter had been located.

Hollaert said she had known Gonzalez for a long time but her daughter had met him fairly recently.

Police had suspected Gonzalez and the girl might be heading for New York City. In issuing the AMBER Alert, investigators indicated they believed the girl was at serious risk.
