Have you updated your Windows software lately? No? Do it now.

Here's why you want to get on updating your software quickly. On Monday, Microsoft pushed a critical update to patch a security hole in all Windows systems Vista and later.

Think it's just another unnecessary update? Not so much. If you don't update your system, hackers can exploit certain TrueType fonts used in Word and on websites to take control of your machine.

If you have your computer set for automatic updates, you should have gotten the patch on Tuesday, but it's worth checking either way.

Better to be safe than sorry!
