The Memorial Day weekend is almost here. It's a three or four day weekend for many Americans to enjoy.

Please take some time to stop and reflect on our freedom, and remember those who put their lives on the line for us.

Yes, there will be mini vacations, cookouts, friends and family gatherings, lots of food, drink, celebrations and of course, our annual Memorial Day Classic Rock 500 countdown. But what is Memorial Day really about?

In a nutshell, it's about remembering those brave souls, the men and women of the military who have sacrificed their lives so that we in the United States of America can remain safe in a free country. Too often we take that for granted. Monday May 25th is Memorial Day. Please take some time to stop and reflect on our freedom, and remember those who put their lives on the line for us. It would be a great way to honor our heroes by attending  Memorial Day Parade.

For many of us, Memorial Day has a bit more meaning than others. We've lost military family and friends over the years, both in wartime and peace. I lost an Uncle (James L. Randall) in 1972 during the Vietnam War. He will always be my hero, and I am honored to be his nephew.

Just after 10am Monday, we'll have a stirring memorial to those amazing men and women, and just after Noontime, we'll perform taps. It's our way of thanking and honoring those in our military who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Never forget the real meaning behind Memorial Day.
