Susan Jacobs, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, announced the move on Wednesday.

The Meals on Wheels program is based on West Main Street across from En-Joie Golf Club.

Jacobs said the move to shut down the service on Friday was "a hard decision to make." She said the action will affect 150 people who depend on the daily meal deliveries.

Jacobs said several options were considered. She noted West Main Street in the area of the golf course is to be closed at noon on Friday, during the usual meal delivery period.

Jacobs said meal recipients have been advised of the decision and they'll be provided with a meal for Friday with Thursday's delivery. In fact, meals for the weekend also will be delivered on Thursday.

Meals on Wheels of Western Broome serves residents of Endicott, Endwell, Vestal, Johnson City and Maine.
