Pros and cons are being sent from the Southern Tier to Albany concerning the issue of legalizing recreational marijuana in New York.

Over 100 people are said to have attended the 10th listening session scheduled for around the state that was held October 2 on the Binghamton University campus.

Opponents of the plan say opening the door to recreational marijuana will lead to more issues with impaired driving and use of harder substances.  Supporters say proper regulating of recreational pot and taxing will reap similar benefits of the current system of regulating and taxing alcohol.

Five more sessions are scheduled.

The New York State Legislature is expected to take up the issue next year.
