Binghamton Police are investigating an incident in which a man, walking alone west of Doubleday Street in the area of Eldrege and Way Streets, was shot in the face.

Investigators say the incident happened shortly after 12 a.m. April 22 when 22-year-old Darryl Sutton was approached by another man. The two had a brief verbal exchange before the North Side man was shot in the face.

Both Sutton and the gunman fled from the immediate area on foot. Sutton was found at a home on Double Day Street, where the 911 call to authorities had been placed.

Sutton was taken to the Wilson Hospital Emergency Department and, at last report, was in serious condition but expected to survive.

Police describe the suspect as possibly being Hispanic or a light-skinned black male and he may have been in the company of another participating male suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Binghamton Police Detectives at (607) 772-7080.
