Authorities say 22-year-old Brady Swearengin of Endicott was arrested a short time after the early-morning incident on Lester Avenue. Police say he was found in a vehicle in the nearby parking lot of the Walmart store on Gannett Drive.

Investigators say the clothing heist happened around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday. Swearengin is said to have visited the residence with a friend.

Police say Swearengin told the woman he wanted the sweatshirt she was wearing. When she would not give it to him, he allegedly pulled it off of her using force.

Detectives say the woman did not know the suspect before he showed up and demanded the sweatshirt. The woman's roommate called police to report the robbery.

Swearengin was arraigned and sent to Broome County Jail.
