It's not every day that someone can say they hopped on stage and sang next to Billie Joe Armstrong at a Green Day concert. Local musician Sonny Weeks can.

Sonny is best known as the lead singer of the local cover band Wreckless Marci, but he's also in the band V.A.P.E, and announced on the Whale today that he's going to be joining another band called "Kalvinn Decline," and that he's also written and recorded some original songs.

Last week, while attending the Green Day show in New Jersey, Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day’s lead singer and guitarist, pulled Sonny on stage to sing ‘Longview.’ and Sonny nailed it.

Sonny joined me on the Whale to chat about the experience and also to talk about the local music scene. Sonny also revealed that he's releasing a new single next week, a song he wrote about his grandfather who passed away when he was young.

Check out my entire interview with Sonny as well as the video of him singing on stage with Green Day. I'm curious to know what you think of Sonny's performance, so leave a comment letting me know.
