Local Civil Air Patrol Squadron on the Move
A local unit of the Civil Air Patrol is moving to the Greater Binghamton Airport.
Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Jenson says the Broome-Tioga Composite Squadron has had a great relationship with the Greater Binghamton Health Center, where it has been headquartered since 1999, but has decided it needs to move from the aging and deteriorating facilities.
Jensen says the next Escalon of the Civil Air Patrol is already housed at the airport and it makes sense to have the Squadron, its aircraft, vehicles, meeting and training facilities at the airport as well.
Well the move is currently said to be temporary, the Air Patrol may negotiate to make the site its permanent home.
The Lieutenant Colonel says Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo is assisting with getting the move done and the Squadron has gotten several businesses to offer trucks, which will greatly reduce the cost of the move.
Broome County is allowing the group to meet in unused space in the terminal at no cost.
