If you are a veteran or active duty member of the military, you will once again to be able to experience the Dick's Sporting Goods Open free of charge through a special program that aims to say "thank you" for serving your country.

The Patriots' Outpost is returning to the tournament, which is taking place August 16-18 at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott. The Outpost is an area of the golf course specifically designated for local veterans and active military to watch the golfers for free.

In 1971, the Broome County Open was born and the sleepy town of Endicott, New York came to life as golf enthusiasts and curious spectators from all over the United States found their way to the Southern Tier to watch the biggest names in golf take to the greens. In 1972, the Broome County Open changed its name to the B.C. Open, and in 1973, it became a PGA Tour golf tournament.

34 years after becoming the B.C. Open and a PGA Tour golf tournament, the event changed names again, this time to the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. It was at this time that the event became a PGA Tour Champions event, bringing in the very best of the best professional golfers who are age 50 and older.

While the Broome County Open, B.C. Open, and Dick’s Sporting Goods Open have all had a major impact on the Southern Tier, bringing in extra jobs and money to our local economy each summer, millions upon millions of dollars have been donated through the tournament hosts to local charities through the event.

It’s not just the golf tournament organizers who are making sure that our community is taken care of. Area businesses are doing the same, businesses like Lockheed Martin.

For the past several years, Lockheed Martin has been offering Central New York veterans and active duty military along with their families the opportunity to enjoy the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open free of charge through the 'Patriots’ Outpost.' This year, the Patriots’ Outpost will overlook the 9th green and as in years past, admission will be completely free to area veterans and active military members each day during the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open (August 16th-18th, 2019) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you’re a local veteran or active duty military member and would like the opportunity to watch the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open from the Patriots’ Outpost with your family, simply show your Military ID or CAC Card at the front gate for your complimentary pass, courtesy of Lockheed Martin.

The Patriot's Outpost is handicap-accessible. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided free of charge as will information on local veterans organizations and groups.
