A memorial service for the Beatles' late manager Brian Epstein took place at the New London Synagogue.

Bob Dylan began recording sessions for the album "John Westley Harding."

Plastic Ono Band released "Cold Turkey" in the UK. (ughhhhhhhhhhh!!!)

The Kinks were allowed to tour the U.S. for the first time in four years.  The band previously had difficulty receiving permits from the American Federation of Musicians. (There's a permit, for that?)

In 1970
Sugarloaf's "Green Eyed Lady" peaked at number three on the pop singles chart.

Free's "All Right Now" peaked at number four on the pop singles chart.

In 1974
Santana released the album "Borboletta."

In 1981
Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You" broke into the Top 40. (And thus, let the wedding bridal dance songs, begin)

Billy Idol released the album "Whiplash Smile."

In 1988
The Traveling Wilburys' released the album "Handle With Care." (and they did)

In 1989
Kiss released the album "Hot In The Shade." (Gene Simmons had asked that it be titled 'Hot in the Sack," But he got shot down.)

In 1991
John Mellencamp was hospitalized after he experienced dizzy spells during a radio station interview in Seattle.  Doctors said his problems were caused by, quote, "too much coffee, stress, and not enough breakfast."

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page released the album "No Quarter."

In 2003
Randy Bachman played a homecoming concert in Winnipeg, Canada.

In 2004
The Queen-based musical "We Will Rock You" opened in Moscow.  Band members Roger Taylor and Brian May attended the premiere.

In 2006
U2 frontman Bono took the stand in the Irish High Court to testify against former stylists Lola Cashman, who had been accused of stealing items from the group's 1987 "Joshua Tree" world tour.  While a judge had previously ruled in the band's favor, Cashman was appealing the decision.

Melissa Etheridge and her partner Tammy Lynn Michaels celebrated the birth of their twins, son Miller Steven and daughter Johnnie Rose. (and do we know who donated the little swimmers?)

In 2008
The Four Tops' Levi Stubbs Jr. died at his Detroit home.  The legendary singer had been in poor health for years, having battled both cancer and a stroke.  Stubbs was 72.

In 2009
U2 singer Bono praised President Barack Obama in the opinion piece "Rebranding America," which ran in the "New York Times."

In 2011
Steve Miller, Joe Satriani, and Christopher Cross were among the stars taking part in "Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas."  The benefit supported residents affected by the summer's devastating wildfires in the area.
